There’s no easy way to put it; job interviews are daunting, nerve-wracking, and intimidating. However, if you do your research and come prepared to answer your interviewer’s questions, you will have a better chance of succeeding. At Newish, we have just finished interviewing potential recruits to join our fabulous team! After the interview process, we’ve put together some of our top tips to help you prepare for any upcoming interviews. Whether you’re a graduating student about to enter the workforce, or changing positions within your industry, these helpful tips will help you ace your next job interview!
Research, research, research!
When preparing for a job interview, the number one thing you must do to prepare is research. It’s essential to have a solid understanding of the company you are hoping to work with, who they are, and what they do. Suppose they have a blog section on their website. In that case, we highly recommend reading through any relevant blog posts as these will give you a better understanding of their opinions and positions on specific topics. If the company you are interviewing for has clients, make sure you have a solid understanding of who these clients are and what they do. Remember, the more you know about the company, the better your chances of nailing your interview and wowing your potential employer.
Ask Questions
Your interviewer will be asking you lots of questions about your qualifications, experience, and background, but don’t forget that you can ask questions too. We have put together some questions that will help you gauge what kind of workplace you might be entering, as well as provide an opportunity to clarify any issues with your potential employer:
- How would you describe the company culture?
- How do you help your team grow professionally?
- How do you measure success in this position?
- is there anything about myself that gives you pause? If so, I’d love to address those concerns.
Dress for Success!
This one is pretty self-explanatory, we know. However, you should never underestimate the importance of a first impression. When heading to a job interview, you should always be immaculately groomed. This means having a clean and ironed outfit, neat and tidy hair, and shiny shoes. We know you have lots to offer, so don’t let a scruffy appearance ruin your chances of success. Last but not least, don’t forget a friendly smile!
If you follow these simple steps, we are sure that you will smash your next interview! If you’re interested in working with Newish, keep your eye on our LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram feeds to hear when we are hiring next!
